If you had to be on a reality television show, which one would you pick?
The Amazing Race. Contestants get to see and do all sorts of neat crap.
Barack Obama's Acceptance speech
John McCain's concession speech
Note:
a) The size of the crowd
b) The demographic makeup of the crowds
c) The reaction of the crowd when the opponent is mentioned.
I was relieved to watch the election returns and find that Obama had won the vote for president in the United States. If Obama had lost, I would have lost (what little I had) respect for America.
During Obama's acceptance speech, Barack humbly and eloquently stated the need for help from all Americans, even the ones who had not voted for him, that the time for the partisanship and division that had been a feature of American politics for the last 8 years had to end. He spoke of the sacrifice and unity the country needed to heal its wounds and regain the lost ground of the Bush years. He graciously mentioned his opponent John McCain, and the great respect he had for him, which drew great applause. There was a crowd of 125,000 peole cheering, it was insane.
At McCain's speech, only maybe 1,000 people were visibile. During his concession speech, every time McCain mentioned Obama, there were "boos" from the crowd. The speech McCain delivered was unlike the ones he used while in the twilight of his campaign. It was respectful and sincere. It sounded like the real John McCain, the one before he supported everything he opposed to win his party's nomination. It was just too bad that the people he was speaking to couldn't appreciate the moment of history they were in, only audibly grousing that a "blackie" had gotten into the White House.
I feel proud of America, even with the Bradley Effect at work, Mr. Obama still won.
I can rest well tonight.
While driving, what's your biggest pet peeve?

People who don't signal and cut you off
Show us the person you'd most like to switch bodies and lives with for one freaky Friday.
Lenny Kravitz, he's likely the coolest person on earth at the moment. Him or Dean Kamen.
What was your first car?
My first car was an '84 Plymouth Reliant. It had no guts and no style, but it was as reliable as hell.
Show us your favorite pair of shoes.
I walked into the local sporting goods store looking for one of those uber-cool mesh shirts from the 80's. The clerk told me, "Sorry, all we have are these shoes". "I'll take em!"
Just kidding, I piced these up to replace my old pair of New Balance runners that were totally shot.
During my lunch break at work one of my co-workers approached me asking, "Say, there's something different about you today". I said, "Huh? I don't think so?", I wasn't wearing anything out of the ordinnary. "Oh, it's your hair, you braided it today!".
I was like "Oh yeah, I totally forgot about it". I don't usually braid my hair when working at the call centre, so it didn't even cross my mind. I added "... and women get upset if men don't notice their hair, here I am not noticing my own hair even though I was the one who braided it. It's really nothing personal".
She said "So it really is true" and went back to man the phones (so to speak).
Have you ever experienced road rage?

I read in the papers on Monday that the bolts for the Titanic were basically made of slag, which broke easily.
From Monday's article:
"The scientists argue that better rivets would have probably kept the Titanic afloat longer"
Hmm...(checks out imdb.com)

Don't you think that maybe it should have sunk faster instead?
